มีคนมากวนใจกับเครื่องของเรา แต่ใครจะรู้ละ ว่าอาจมีการล้วงลึกเข้าไปได้โดยผู้อื่น ไม่ทางใดก็
ทางหนึ่ง วิธีที่ดีที่สุดคือเข้ารหัสข้อมูลที่สำคัญไว้

TrueCrypt เป็นโปรแกรมที่ถูกออกแบบมาให้รักษาและปกป้องข้อมูลบนไดรฟ์ของเรา มันจะ
เข้ารหัสข้อมูลให้โดยอัตโนมัติหรือสั่งแบบระบบ step by step  ซึ่งข้อมูลเหล่านั้นก่อนการจะ
ผ่านการเข้าจะผ่านการคำนวณทางระบบ on – the – fly – encrypted drive จนกระทั่งกลาย
เป็นรหัสที่ยากแก่การถอด ต้องมี password ที่เราตั้งไว้ถึงจะเข้าไปดูได้ โดยสิ่งที่เข้ารหัสได้
เข่น  file names, folder names, contents of every file, and free space รวมทั้งมีเมนู
และ  wizard  ที่ทำให้ใช้งานง่าย   สามารถโหลดไปใช้ได้ฟรีไม่เสียค่าใช้จ่ายใดๆ   เนื่องจาก
เป็น Open Source

รายละเอียดส่วนต่างๆ ของโปรแกรมมีดังนี้

• Creates a virtual encrypted disk within a file and mounts it as a real disk.
• Encrypts an entire partition or storage device such as USB flash drive or
  hard drive.
• Encrypts a partition or drive where Windows is installed (pre-boot
  authentication).
• Encryption is automatic, real-time (on-the-fly) and transparent.
• Provides two levels of plausible deniability, in case an adversary forces
  you to reveal the password:
  1. Hidden volume (steganography) and hidden operating system.
  2. No TrueCrypt volume can be identified (volumes cannot be dis-
     tinguished from random data).
• Encryption  algorithms:  AES-256,  Serpent,  and  Twofish.  Mode  of
  operation: XTS.
• Further information regarding features of the software may be found in
  the documentation.
• Ability to encrypt a non-system partition without losing existing data on
  the partition.
• Protection against memory corruption caused by bugs in certain ver-
  sions of some BIOSes, which prevented the TrueCrypt boot loader from
  working properly
